About us
VRI is a free service, using video technology,
available to Deaf people when they have a meeting with hearing staff at a government
agency and a face-to-face NZSL Interpreter is not available.
VRI is a joint government agency initiative funded by these Government agencies:
- Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC)
- Ministry of Education (MOE)
- Ministry of Health (MOH)
- Ministry of Social Development (MSD)
Any government agency can use the VRI service.
Training and support for Government Agencies is provided by Deaf Aotearoa NZ (DANZ).
New Zealand Relay is the provider of VRI Services under contract with the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE).
